Brownwood took an early lead in the game as quarterback Mitch Stephens threw a 79 yard touchdown pass to Cade Johnson in the opening minutes of the first quarter.

Manor was forced to punt from the endzone at the end of their next drive which went high, took a bounce and ended up on their own 2 yard line.  The Lions’ Stehl Ratliff made an easy touchdown run putting more points on the board early in the first quarter.

The Lions offense had a little trouble in the remainder of the first half with several penalties and turnovers, but the defense held Manor to only a field goal with a 14-3 score at halftime.

The Lions come back in the second half ready for action.

Vance McShan & Jaxon Shipley each made touchdown receptions near the end of the 3rd quarter.

Derek Longoria finished off the night with a 4 yard touchdown run in the 4th quarter.

Lions beat Manor 35-3 giving them a 4-1 record so far for the season.

Coach Bob Shipley said after the game ended that the defense kept playing hard throughout the game, but the offense was off rhythm and didn’t seem focused.

Shipley told the players after the game that next week was serious business.

Next week the Lions face Abilene Wylie at home in the first district game of the season.
