Press Release – On Friday, January 20, 2017 officers with the Brownwood Police Department conducted a traffic stop in the 1100 block of Phillips Blvd. During the traffic stop, the officer detected clues that led to the belief that the driver of the vehicle was involved in illegal narcotic activity. Officers with the Brownwood Police Department and Brown County Sheriff’s Office narcotic divisions were contacted and responded to the scene.
Narcotic detection K-9 Buster from the Brown County Sheriff’s Office was deployed and positively alerted to the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle was conducted and approximately 17 grams of methamphetamine was discovered hidden in the vehicle. An additional quantity of methamphetamine was also located on the driver’s person.
The driver of the vehicle, 33 year-old Dustin Menefee of Brownwood, was arrested at the scene. Mr. Menefee was charged with Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance Under 200 grams in a Drug Free Zone which is a First Degree Felony.
The investigation into the transport and delivery of illegal narcotics is ongoing and more arrests are expected.
