The Brownwood Junior Rodeo kicked off this weekend with many contestants from around the area participating.
This event sponsored by the Brown County 4-H Horse Club allows participants from age 19 and under to compete in a variety of rodeo events divided by age group.
Events include barrel racing, flags, poles, goat slapping (10 & under only), goat tying, breakaway roping, tie down roping, ribbon roping, steer riding, junior bull riding (11-14), and senior bull riding (15-19). Age groups for each event are 10 & under, 11-14, and 15-19, but certain events are age specific as noted above.
Each participant must adhere to the dress code of long sleeve shirts and hats during the competitions. Money and buckle prizes are awarded in each event.
The 2009 Junior Rodeo kicked off last night with loads of entries. The second & last night of the Junior Rodeo is tonight, August 22 & begins at 7pm at Earl Q. Wilson Rodeo Arena in Brownwood.
