RiverFest2015With school around the corner, members of the Brownwood Jaycees are proud to announce the recreation of RiverFest, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on August 15 at Riverside Park.

“We’re really excited to bring this project back to the community,” said Jaycee President Patrick McLaughlin IV.  “I remember RiverFest being such a fun event that I wanted to bring it back to the community.”

Admission into RiverFest will be $2 per adult and $1 for children with half of the admission proceeds going to the Salvation Army’s School Supply fund.

“We’re super excited to be teaming up with the Jaycees,” said Stacy Tennison, director of the Salvation Army of Brownwood.  “We are always looking for help with our annual school supply drive since they can be very pricey.  Our goal is to help relieve some of the financial stress from parents and this partnership will help us achieve that goal.  This is truly a blessing for us.”

The all-day event will feature live music, various arts and crafts vendors, a kid’s corner and cars from the Heartland Cruisers.  Residents can also enter in one of the three competitions that will take place including a fishing contest, a barbecue cook-off sanctioned by the Lone Star Barbecue Society and the raft races.  “We invite everyone to come out and have fun with us,” McLaughlin said.
