Pamela Deaver, a grade 2 teacher at Woodland Heights Elementary School in the Brownwood Independent School District, has been elected to a two-year term as district 15 director for the Texas Classroom Teachers Association. Her term will begin June 1, 2012.
Elections were held in February at TCTA’s annual convention in Houston. Founded in 1927, TCTA is an independent, nonunion association for Texas teaching professionals, which serves 50,000 members across the state.
Deaver was elected by convention delegates from district 15, the area she will represent on the TCTA Directors’ Council. As a Council member, she will help set policy for the statewide association and assist leaders of TCTA local affiliates in her 18-county area.A TCTA member for more than 15 years, Deaver previously held this position on the Directors’ Council. She is also an active member of the Brownwood Classroom Teachers Association, where she serves as vice-president, membership chair, and faculty representative for her campus.
TCTA is based in Austin and is the only statewide teacher association that limits active level membership to those directly involved in classroom teaching or teaching support.
