Press Release – Brownwood ISD has instituted a new program to periodically recognize members of our faculty and staff that go the extra mile to ensure excellence in education for all our students.  We are extremely proud of our teachers and support personnel, and it is a pleasure to recognize members of our team for the jobs they do.  It is important to note that these Spotlight recipients are chosen from peer nominations.  To be nominated by one’s co-workers is the highest of compliments, because those closest to you can see what is truly being done to positively impact students.   Congratulations to Angie Bertrand and Tommy Parson, our January Spotlight honorees.

Our Teacher Spotlight of the Month honors Ms. Angie Bertrand, 2nd grade teacher at Woodland Heights Elementary! Now in her 18th year of teaching, Ms. Bertrand holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Elementary Education from Howard Payne University. She has been with Brownwood ISD since 2013. Ms. Bertrand is always going above and beyond to expand her students’ minds, bringing innovation and creativity into her classroom. She is known for being patient, loving and kind towards every student, investing time to truly know them. She eats lunch beside the line leader each week while she visits with all the kids at their lunch table. She has a passion for teaching the children, giving them 110% and making learning fun.

Brownwood ISD is proud of educators like Angie Bertrand who always put their students first. It is a blessing to have teachers in the district who not only motivate their students, but the faculty and staff around them, as well. Thank you, Mrs. Bertrand, for a job always well done!

Mr. Tommy Parson, Paraprofessional at Coggin Intermediate School, receives the January 2018 Staff Spotlight. Mr. Parsons is new to Brownwood ISD this year but has a background in working with students from his many years at the Brownwood State School. Mr. Parsons is honored for his willingness to do anything necessary to help both students and teachers. Even though Mr. Parson has been with the school district a short time, he has made an immediate impact in supporting students at Coggin Intermediate. He takes the time to develop relationships with the students and has built a positive connection in finding activities that are wrapped around student’s interests. Additionally, he has demonstrated flexibility in supporting staff in areas of need at Coggin Intermediate. His supervisors can count on him due to his commitment of a servant’s heart.

BISD congratulates Mr. Parson on his success at Coggin Intermediate and thanks him for the positive impact he makes on all of those around him. Team players like Mr. Parson are the key to the climate we support!
