Brownwood News – Congratulations to our February 2019 Spotlight teacher, Ms. Christy Couch! Ms. Couch is a 3rd grade teacher at Woodland Heights Elementary, where she has been teaching for 3 years. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies (K-8) from Western Governors University in 2016, and is certified to teach core subjects (EC-6). Ms. Couch worked as a Substitute Teacher at Early ISD in 2014, then an Instructional Aide, Student Teacher and ACE Program Instructor at Early Primary School before coming to Brownwood ISD.

In addition to her work as a teacher, Ms. Couch is the 3rd grade UIL Ready Writing Coach and the Chess Club teacher at Woodland Heights Elementary. She provides a positive and creative learning environment for her students on a daily basis and continues to build up their love and interest in learning.

Brownwood ISD thanks Ms. Couch for her dedication to teaching, and passion for inspiring students to love learning.

Mr. Kelly Wheeler is our February 2019 Spotlight staff member. Mr. Wheeler works for the Brownwood ISD Maintenance Department and is a certified HVAC Technician. He graduated from Levelland High School in 1991, and worked as an Albertson manager for 9 years before moving to Ft. Worth. He received his HVAC Type I & II Certifications from ESCO Institute in 2001. Wheeler moved to Brownwood in 2006 where he began working for Roberts & Petty before joining Brownwood ISD in 2017.

Mr. Wheeler enjoys the outdoors, fishing, riding his motorcycle and spending time with family. He is dedicated to his craft and enjoys those he works with.

Brownwood ISD is grateful to have staff members like Mr. Wheeler, who take pride in their work, encourage their co-workers, and help to make a strong and enjoyable working environment.
