Brownwood ISD received news Thursday, August 30th, that it had been awarded a Technology Lending Grant in the amount of $100,000. The grant provides funding to purchase equipment that will be checked out by students on a regular basis.
The ISD will use the funding to purchase MacBook Air laptops for this year’s freshman class. Plans were already in place to utilize a combination of funding sources to purchase the laptops that included the student laptop activity fund, generated entirely from the collection of student laptop fees.
“This grant will allow us to leave those funds in place, ensuring our ability to provide laptops to students again next year,” said Brownwood ISD Superintendent, Dr. Reece Blincoe. “We are very enthusiastic about what this grant means for us and our students in these financially difficult times.”
The district said in a press release that the receipt of the grant funding is great news for the school district, and it will provide some financial relief as Brownwood ISD remains dedicated to providing the best education to students while utilizing and incorporating the latest technology in the classroom.
