Governor Rick Perry has proclaimed January as School Board Recognition Month to help highlight the contributions of dedicated men and women who take the time to care about our local schools. The Brownwood ISD Board of Trustees was given special recognition in the school board meeting on Monday, January 11. To honor the Board of Trustees, artwork from Middle School students was displayed around the Board Room, a video message from East Elementary was shown, and clocks with student photo collage and the message, “Thank you for your time” were given to each Trustee by Northwest Elementary. Superintendent, Dr. Reece Blincoe, read a proclamation by Gov. Rick Perry and presented each Trustee with a certificate of appreciation and a shirt.
“We have one of the finest School Boards in the State; they are very good at what they do. They are a strong Board, because they have open discussions and make the right decisions,” Dr. Blinco said.
The role of the Board of Trustees is vital in the school and the community. They are responsible for a $25 million annual budget, 3,500 students, 550 employees and 8 campuses.
