Land2015Brownwood ISD board of trustees met in a special called meeting Monday night appointing Liesa Land as acting superintendent of the district after a unanimous vote.  The district released the following statement.

‘The Brownwood ISD Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Liesa Land as Acting Superintendent.  She has 31 years of experience in education starting as a classroom teacher and progressing through the ranks of education as an administrator serving as assistant principal, high school principal, and then Assistant Superintendent at Brady ISD.  In 2009 she was named BISD Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction and was recently named Deputy Superintendent.  “We have full confidence in Mrs. Land as she assumes the role of acting superintendent.  We feel she and the current team of BISD administrators and campus principals will provide the leadership necessary for continued excellence and success at Brownwood ISD” said Board President, Michael Cloy.

“I want to thank the Brownwood ISD Board of Trustees for the vote of confidence.  I am looking forward to serving as the BISD Acting Superintendent.  Brownwood ISD is a great district with amazing administrators, staff, students, and parents.  I am blessed to be a part of such a wonderful district.  We are not looking back, but we are moving forward and will continue educating students to the best of our ability.  We have been extremely successful and we will continue to build on that success” stated Mrs. Land.’

Board President Michael Cloy stated that Land was the sole prospect considered for the position.   When asked if she would consider applying for the position when it becomes available, she stated she did not know at this point.  Cloy stated that the district could not legally consider hiring any prospect for the permanent position of superintendent until March of 2016.

Land will fill the position vacated last week by Dr. Reece Blincoe after his resignation from the district.  He is currently on paid administrative leave through January 2016.
