January 2016 is School Board Recognition Month, and Brownwood ISD joins other districts across the state as they honor the countless contributions of these locally elected advocates for public education.
“The community of Brownwood has done an outstanding job electing men and women to the school board who have an unfailing commitment to the success of every student. The way in which they tackle such a difficult job is admirable. They shoulder enormous responsibilities and take their leadership roles seriously. They are unpaid for their attendance at lengthy meetings and they work to broaden their knowledge at conferences and seminars without compensation. I couldn’t ask for a better group to work with,” said Dr. Joe Young, Brownwood ISD superintendent.“Unfortunately, we too often neglect to recognize the dedication of these members. So each year the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) encourages communities to show appreciation during the month of January. With great Brownwood Lion pride, the staff and students of our district applaud our board members for their vision and voice to help shape a better tomorrow,” he said.
The members currently serving on the Brownwood ISD Board of Trustees are Diane Thompson, Dr. Lisa Fowler, Tim Jacobs, Eric Evans, Michael Cloy, Bradley Jetton, and Roderick Jones, Sr.
In Brownwood, this board is responsible for an annual budget of $31.6 million, 3,672 students, 506 employees, and 8 campuses.
“Our children benefit every day from the hard work and long hours contributed by our trustees. These members serve as a crucial link between the community and classroom. Please take a moment and tell our school board members ‘thank you’ for giving so much to our Brownwood community,” suggested Young.
