January is School Board Recognition Month and Brownwood ISD is joining other districts across the state to thank these local leaders for their dedication and willingness to serve as advocates for our children and public schools.

Brownwood ISD Board Members were honored at the January Board of Trustees meeting held on Monday, January 19th, with the reading of a proclamation declaring this January to be School Board Recognition Month, along with the presentation of custom thank-you notes and gifts created by students at each school.

The members currently serving on the Brownwood ISD Board of Trustees are Diane Thompson, Dr. Lisa Fowler, Tim Jacobs, Eric Evans, Michael Cloy, Bradley Jetton, and Roderick Jones. These local volunteers are elected by their constituents, and they receive no compensation for the service they provide.

“Local school board members are strong advocates for public education and are responsible for communicating the needs of the school district to the public and the public’s expectations to the district,” stated Brownwood ISD Superintendent, Dr. Reece Blincoe before concluding the proclamation presentation. “I urge all citizens to join us in recognizing the dedication and hard work of local school board members and in working with them to mold an education system that meets the needs of both today’s and tomorrow’s children.”
