The Brownwood ISD Board of Trustees approved the school’s budget for the 2010-2011 school year in a special called meeting on Monday night.
The board unanimously approved the new budget of $25,582,771 for the new school year which is a 2.71% increase over last year. The board also approved a budget of $1,819,000 for food services, and $3,015,433 for debt service.
The new budget includes a minimum salary increase of $600 per year for professional employees and a 3 percent increase for auxiliary employees.
The school board also approved the 2010 property tax rate of 1.3147% per $100 valuation which is a slight drop from the 2009 tax rate of 1.3189%. The tax rate is made up of 1.04% per $100 valuation for maintenance and operation and 0.2747% for interest and sinking.
The school board also approved the final amended budget for the 2009-2010 school year. The district closed the year with a fund balance of $4,507,393 in the general fund.
