The sixth grade robotics team at Brownwood Intermediate School won the Research Award for their performance in the First Lego League (FLL) Robotics Competition at LASA/LBJ High School in Austin on December 8th.
The team’s research and development of an invention to assist the aging population of the nation earned them the Research Award at the competition that emphasizes team work and creativity as much as the actual programming. In addition to receiving an exemplary score in the Core Values portion of the contest, the Brownwood Intermediate Robotics team earned seventh place honors out of thirty other schools and landed them a spot in the next level of competition in early February.
“We are very proud of our robotics team for their performance,” said Brownwood Intermediate School principal Charles Chesser. “Kudos to them for not only taking the top research award, but for also earning a ‘Golden Ticket’ to advance to the next level.”
