Brownwood High School is preparing for their UIL One-Act Play contest coming up next weekend. To help them prepare, the actors are offering a sneak peek to the public next Tuesday.
The play titled “To See the Stars” by Cynthia Mercati tells the story of women immigrants working in a shirt waste factory in 1909 who go on strike to get better working conditions. The cast pulls off a very believable and dramatic performance. This is a very intense but entertaining play that is sure to draw out emotion from the audience.
The One-Act Play will be open for the public on Tuesday, March 23rd at 7pm in the Dorothy McIntosh Fine Arts Center at Brownwood High School. The UIL completion is Saturday, March 27th.
The Brownwood Middle School will also present their One-Act Play to the public on the same night at 6pm. The title of the Middle School play is “Just Like Me.”
The public is invited to attend both productions and can make a donation at the door to help support the school’s fine arts program.
