Brownwood High School has selected Homecoming Queen Nominees and is ready for the festivities to begin.  Five seniors were chosen by their peers, a vote by the student body will determine which of these lovely girls will be the Brownwood High School 2011 Homecoming Queen.

Pictured above are nominees, Addie Shipley, Colbie Crow, Marina Williams, Grace Randolph and Melissa Rmeili.

According to the girls, they have been friends since they could remember, with the exception of Addie Shipley who came to Brownwood her freshman year when her father, Bob Shipley was awarded the Athletic Director position at BHS in 2008.  Although Shipley wasn’t born in Brownwood, she, Crow, Randolph, Williams and Rmeili have become friends and have developed a respect for each other and stated, “No matter who wins, it will be a good decision.”

These friends spoke of going dress shopping together hopefully before the big day.  Each with a different personality and style, they all expressed excitement and honor for being chosen by their school as representatives and possibly Homecoming Queen.

Below are short biographies of each nominee:

CrowColbie

Colbie Crow is the daughter of Dr. James and Donna Crow and has two brothers, Taylor and Tanner.  Crow has been involved in the Choices Mentoring Program for 2 years, Students Against Destructive Decisions, a member of the Lionettes Drill Team for 2 years and is a 4 year member of  Brownwood High Schools Play Production program.  She has performed in productions of Kabuki Lady Macbeth, Charlotte’s Web, to See the Stars, Chronicles of Narnia, Ash Girl- in which she was chosen as a UIL all star cast member her Junior year.  Miss Crow has been cast in the starring role, as Willie Wonka, in the Brownwood High School Theater’s upcoming production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Crow has participated in the BHS choir for two years with performances in Oklahoma! and High School Musical. Her UIL accomplishments include Choir, Theater and Regional qualifier in poetry her junior year.  She was honored to be elected to the Lion Crew for her senior year.

Outside of school, Crow has been involved with various mission trips and involved with the local Lyric Theater productions for five years, performing in The Sound of Music, Fiddler on the Roof, Annie, My Fair Lady, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, and I never Saw Another Butterfly.  She is currently employed at the Runaway Train.

While undecided on which University she will attend, Miss Crow is planning to pursue a Fine Arts degree and a career in acting and the entertainment industry.

RandolphGrace1

Grace Marie Randolph is the daughter of Jean Randolph Giles and the late James Randolph and has four sisters, a brother, two step sisters and a step brother.  Randolph is also the proud aunt to two nieces that she loves with all her heart.  A few years After her father passed away her mother remarried to Matt Giles.

Randolph was born on Valentine’s Day of 1994 in Plano, Texas and moved to Brownwood in the first grade.

Miss Randolph is currently involved in Brownwood High School’s building trades program and recently helped construct the tables & desk in the Brownwood ISD’s board room and a playhouse for the 2011 Brownwood Reunion Celebration’s Hands on a House competition.

Randolph was elected to the Lion Crew, has been in debate for two years, and competed in varsity golf her freshman year.  Miss Randolph has loads of school spirit and is proud of her record of dressing up for every single pep rally of her high school career.

“I love Brownwood high school with a passion and everyone in it,” said Randolph.

RmeiliMelissa

Melissa Rmeili is the daughter of Elias & Jana Rmeili and has two older sisters, Ellie and Julie. Rmeili attends Austin Avenue Church of Christ and is involved in the youth group there. She has been on the varsity volleyball team for three years and is a setter for the team. She serves as president of National Honor Society and is in Choices and Spanish Club. Miss Rmeili plans to attend Texas A&M University and major in business.

ShipleyAddie

Addie Jane Shipley is the daughter of Bob and Sharon Shipley and has two brothers, Jordan & Jaxon, and a sister, Shelby.

Shipley attends Austin Avenue Church of Christ and is very active in the youth group. She runs Cross Country and Track for the Lady Lions.  Shipley is involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Choices, National Honor Society, Student Counsel, Athletics and is the leader of the Spirit Team.

Miss Shipley plans to attend Abilene Christian University in the fall and major in family studies.

WilliamsMarina

Marina Marie Williams is the daughter of Phil Williams of Brownwood, Texas and Nancy Perry Williams of Del Rio, Texas.  She has a brother that is a freshman, and a sister that is in seventh grade.

Williams is involved in activities such as Choices, FCCLA, junior drill team manager, freshman and sophomore volleyball, freshman and junior varsity soccer.   She was elected to the Lion Crew and serves as the President of Student Council.

Williams works at the Bert V. Massey Sports Complex during the summer.

Miss Williams plans to attend Angelo State University and then transfer to Texas Tech to pursue a degree in Marriage and Family Therapy.
