The Brownwood High School boys and girls golf teams participated in the district golf tournament and Lady Lion Syndey Roberts (freshman) took the bronze medal and will advance to the Region I-3A tournament.
The first round of district was at the Llano River Golf Course and the final round was played at the Brownwood Country Club on Monday, April 7th. The top two teams and top individuals not advancing on a team advance to regionals.
Gatesville won district with a two day team total of 635. Lampasas was the second place team with a 706 and Burnet was third with a 777. 1st place medalist was Morgan Rogers (Lampasas) 73-78=151, second went to Katy Colson (Gatesville) 81-73=154 and third medalist and advancing to regionals was Sydney Roberts 80-75=155. Also Advancing to regionals is Lauren Beckwith (Burnet) 86-82=168.
“I am very proud of Sydney for making it to Regionals and also for finishing district with a great round,” stated Lady Lions Golf Coach Laura Martin. In the boys’ tournament, Gatesville also won the district championship with a two day total of 602, 2nd place team was Llano with a 606, and Lampasas was 3rd with 619. 1st place Medalist went to Chance Craig (Llano) 69-72=141 (2 under par). Chance also had a hole in one today on number 8. 2nd was a tie between Tyler McDonough (Llano) & Zane Washburn (Gatesville) with a 150. Advancing to regionals are Talon Wright and Blake Graham both of Lampasas.Below are the complete results of the district tournament:
