Students from the Brownwood High School Band competed at the Region 7 UIL Concert & Sight-reading Contest at Llano High School on Tuesday, April 7th.  The students earned a first division rating in both the concert and sight-reading portions of the contest.

Combined with the band’s first division rating at the UIL marching competition earlier in the year, the BHS Band was presented with the UIL Sweepstakes Award.

Contest judges praised the band in their comments from the contest performance.

“Overall great job! I enjoyed this,” stated Brent Colwell from Temple College.

Jeff Estes from Bastrop commented, “[The] band plays with very mature sounds! [The] balance and blend is outstanding. Congrats!”

“Thank you for your hard work and dedication; [a] very musical performance,” remarked Bryan Bronstad, band director from Clifton, Texas.

“Congratulations to the High School Band for an outstanding job,” said BHS Band Director David Lambert. “The Brownwood Mighty Maroon Lion band will perform their spring concert on May 5th in the high school auditorium.  Please come out and support your hometown band.”
