The Brownwood Girls Softball Association kicked off their 2014 season on Thursday with an opening ceremony introducing 27 teams at the Bert V. Massey Sports Complex. Sixteen of these teams began their seasons with games just after the ceremony.
Teams were introduced one by one along with their coaches.
BGSA President Dwayne Harris welcomed the audience and teams and encouraged the girls to make 2014 a great season. He asked each player to play for themselves and the “love of the game,” to encourage each other, and to play their best every time they hit the field.
Teams gathered at the pitcher’s mound and had a “breakout” moment yelling, “Play ball!”
This year, the Bangs Softball Association teams will play the Brownwood Girls Softball Association with games being in both cities according to Harris.
