Brownwood Girls Softball Association gathered at the Walt Williams field (field #3) of the Bert Massey II Sports Complex on Monday evening to honor top teams and to support a local umpire who was recently diagnosed with cancer.
A special presentation of a $500 check was made in support of James Anderson, who was unable to attend the awards ceremony due to being hospitalized in Abilene. Seven of Anderson’s grandchildren (pictured above with board members) accepted the gift on his behalf Monday evening.
“This gift is presented to a special man who has umpired for us for over 7 years,” said BGSA President Albert Gomez. “This is a gift from the Brownwood Girls Softball Association to help him with travel and other expenses.”
First and second place teams were awarded trophies, each player individually recognized. T-ball teams were also awarded participation trophies. Below are photos of the top teams in each division and BGSA board members as well as a photo gallery of individual players.
