Brownwood Fire Department Receives Wal-Mart Grant Funds

Brownwood Fire Department was awarded Wal-Mart grant funds at Tuesday’s meeting of the Brownwood City Council.

Wal-Mart Manager Ernie Koon and Nora Phelps of Human Resources presented the $1000 contribution to Brownwood Fire Chief Del Albright.

“We’re happy to make this contribution to the fire department.  We’ve been talking that we need to do this annually, not just occasionally,” said Koon.  “At Wal-Mart, we have funds flagged to give to local organizations and we felt that the fire department was an organization that could need funding.”

Brownwood Mayor Stephen Haynes thanked Koon and Phelps for giving back to the community.

“We are blessed to have businesses that reinvest and become a part of this community,” said Mayor Haynes.  “Thank you for reinvesting in our community.”
