The Brownwood Fire Department announced their department awards Wednesday night for fire officer of the year and firefighter of the year at their annual Christmas party.

Matt Campbell was named Firefighter of the Year for 2012.

“He does a lot for the department, has a very good attitude, and we all think he as a good future in front of him,” said Brownwood Fire Chief Del Albright as he announced the award.

Fire officer for 2012 was awarded to Lt. Ricky Parsons.  Officials said that Parsons will retire from the department next week after 30 years of service.

“He has spend a lot of years at this department, he knows a lot, and he has a lot of knowledge that most of us won’t even know being with the city that long,” Albright said.

The fire department also recognized Debbie Morelock for her countless years and hours of volunteer service to the Brownwood Fire Department.
