October is Fire Prevention Month and Fire Prevention Week is October 7th – 13th so the Brownwood Fire Department is out and educating school children, daycares and even visiting businesses to promote public awareness of the occasion.

Friday, Brownwood firefighters visited Weekday Preschool at the First United Methodist Church in Brownwood.   The students were shown fire equipment as well as being shown what a fireman looks like when he comes into a home during a fire and they were allowed to sit inside the big red fire truck.

Firefighters present were Justin Prince, Bryan Harvey, James LeMond and Mitch Miller.  Also present were Fire Marshal Buddy Preston and Nika the arson dog.

Firefighters along with Preston also appeared at Home Depot on Saturday, visiting with local children about fire safety, allowing them to see the inside of their fire truck and introducing them to Nika.

Pictured above are BFD firefighters James Lemond and Bryan Harvey with students at Weekday Preschool.  Below are more pictures of the firemen’s visit to both the preschool and to Home Depot.  Photos at Weekday Preschool contributed by Miranda Benefield.
