Reports released for the period of December 7-13, 2015 from the Brownwood Fire Department include 36 medical emergencies, 10 fire calls, 10 motor vehicle accidents and 1 hazardous materials call.

Monday, December 7
*7:52 AM – Brownwood Fire Department was dispatched to a fire call in the 900 block of 7th Street. Fire crews arrived on scene to heavy smoke coming from the structure. The fire was extinguished, then salvage and overhaul efforts were started.
*8:55 AM – Brownwood Fire Department responded to a one-vehicle accident in the 600 block of W. Commerce. Firefighters arrived on scene to find one vehicle in the roadway and another vehicle in a parking lot. Both occupants of the vehicle were transported by EMS.
*11:50 AM – Brownwood Fire Department responded to a fire call in the 900 7th Street for a rekindle of a structure fire. Fire crews arrived on scene to find light smoke. All hot spots were located and extinguished.
*11:54 AM – Brownwood Fire Department was dispatched to a two-vehicle accident at Main Street and W. Lee. Fire crews arrived on scene with EMS. One patient was transported by EMS.
Tuesday, December 8
*4:40 AM – Brownwood Fire Department responded to a fire call in the 500 block of Commerce regarding a smoke alarm activation. Fire crews arrived on scene to find nothing showing.*6:09 AM – Brownwood Fire Department was dispatched to a fire call in the 1200 block of Beaver. Firefighters arrived on scene to find light smoke coming out of the front door of the home. Fire crews entered the residence to find a sweater which was hanging up had made contact with a space heater and had caught on fire. Firefighters extinguished the fire and a ventilation fan was used to remove smoke from the house.
*12:02 PM – Brownwood Fire Department was called to a fire in the 2300 block of 12th Street. Firefighters arrived on scene with police and found the resident burning leaves in the yard. The resident was informed of city burn ordinance and resident extinguished the fire.
*6:11 PM – Brownwood Fire Department responded to a fire call in the area of Austin Avenue and Clark Street regarding smoke in the area. Fire crews arrived on scene to find a smoky haze present which was determined to be from a fireplace burning in the area.
Wednesday, December 9
*7:13 AM – Brownwood Fire Department was dispatched to a hazardous materials call in the 4000 block of Glenwood regarding a possible gas leak. Fire crews searched the area but nothing was found. While returning to the station, the smell of gas was detected at the intersection of Austin & Indian Creek. Atmos was notified.
*2:16 PM – Brownwood Fire Department responded to a two-vehicle accident in the 600 block of Center Avenue. Firefighters arrived on scene to find a two vehicle minor accident with no injuries.
Wednesday, December 10
*6:40 AM – Brownwood Fire Department was dispatched to a fire call in the 5500 block of County Road 345 for a structure fire with Early Volunteer Fire Department. Firefighters arrived on scene to find a single story house with heavy fire showing. Fire extinguishment was began and when fire was finally knocked down, extensive overhaul was initiated.
*4:32 PM – Brownwood Fire Department responded to a single vehicle accident at Austin Avenue and Main Street. Fire crews arrived to find a single vehicle which had struck a utility pole. A power line was down and Oncor was notified.
*11:10 PM – Brownwood Fire Department was dispatched to a fire call in the 700 block of W. Commerce. Firefighters arrived on scene to find that a light bulb had exploded. The residence was searched for smoke, heat, and fire; however nothing was found. The light bulb was replaced with no problems.
Thursday, December 11
*2:12 PM – Brownwood Fire Department responded to a two-vehicle accident at 14th Street and Avenue K. Firefighters assisted EMS with packaging patients for transport.
*2:49 PM – Brownwood Fire Department was dispatched to a fire call in the 9200 block of South Hwy 377 regarding multiple grass fires. Fire crews arrived on scene to find Brookesmith Volunteer Fire Department fighting a grass fire. BFD’s booster truck engaged its pump and extinguished fire around the perimeter.
*3:56 PM – Brownwood Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident at Main and Baker Streets. Firefighters arrived on scene with Brownwood Police Department to find vehicles had been moved to a nearby parking lot. There were no injuries.
Saturday, December 13
*2:47 PM – Brownwood Fire Department was called to a fire in the 1500 block of Terrace Drive. Firefighters were dispatched for an odor in the house. The incident was determined to be a need for smoke/odor removal.
*3:04 PM – Brownwood Fire Department responded to the intersection of E. Commerce and Main Street regarding a two-vehicle accident with no injuries.
*4:23 PM – Brownwood Fire Department was called to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Coggin Avenue and 15th Street. Fire crews arrived on scene with EMS to find 2 vehicles with severe damage and entrapment. One occupant was extricated and packaged in EMS for transport.
*10:05 PM – Brownwood Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident in the 7300 block of Farm Market Road 45 involving a vehicle striking a deer. There were no injuries to the occupants of the vehicle.
