Two Brownwood High School FFA students were awarded $34,000 scholarships at the State FFA Convention in Ft. Worth, Texas this summer.  The scholarships, provided by the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, were awarded to Matt Lewis and Abby Day who will each be given $18,000 initially, and then after two years with a qualifying GPA, would qualify for an additional $16,000.

“This summer has been very busy for the Brownwood FFA,” said BHS Ag teacher, Chelsea Wilson noting the scholarships awarded to Lewis and Day. “They have attended the Area IV FFA Leadership Camp at the Texas 4-H Center at Lake Brownwood, and they also attended the State FFA Convention.”

“We also had 6 students receive their Lone Star Degrees,” added Wilson. “This is the highest degree they can receive in FFA as a high school member.”

Brownwood FFA students are already gearing up for another busy year, and BHS FFA advisors, Cade and Chelsea Wilson expressed their enthusiasm for this year’s events, “We are extremely excited about the upcoming year and everything it includes.”
