Texas Comptroller Susan Combs released sales tax allocations statewide for the month of October with good news for Brown County cities.
Brownwood’s sales tax allocations were up 4.76% compared to the same month last year, and Early and Bangs each saw a good increase for October of 10.34% and 12.21% respectively.
Statewide, Combs will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts their October local sales tax allocations totaling $579.8 million, up 5.2 percent compared to October 2012.
“State sales tax revenue collections continued to grow at a moderate pace,” Combs said. “Growth was led by collections from the construction, telecommunications and retail sectors. State sales tax revenue has now increased for 42 consecutive months.”
Sales tax allocation numbers for October reflect actual sales from August.
