The Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas Board recognized thirteen regional child care providers at their February Board meeting, as having achieved Texas Rising Star (TRS) Provider status within the past year. A TRS Provider serves Texas Workforce Commission-subsidized children and voluntarily offers quality care that exceeds the State’s Minimum Child Care Licensing Standards in areas such as health and safety, group size, child/staff ratios, caregiver training and age-appropriate curricula and activities.
Local Abilene providers receiving an award for achieving a Four-Star status include Day Nursery of Abilene-Vine Street, Day Nursery of Abilene-Sherry Lane, GLO Day Care, Kids Kampus, Dyess AFB Child Development Center and Dyess AFB Youth Program. Regional Providers achieving Four-Star certification include Kids Kampus and Snyder Child Day Care Center both in Snyder, Tx., Kids Kampus in Sweetwater, Tx., Little Dude Ranch in Brownwood, Tx., and Ms. Jessica’s Day Care in Breckenridge, Tx. Three-Star certification was achieved by Lang Aycock in Sweetwater, Tx. and Carrousel Child Care Center in Brownwood, Tx.
The TRS Provider certification system offers three levels of certification (Two-Star, Three-Star, and Four-Star) to encourage providers to attain progressively higher certification requirements leading to a Four-Star level certification. Under the direction of staff from Region 14 Education Service Center and Workforce Solutions Child Care Services, these TRS Providers were given mentoring services, technical assistance, equipment and curriculum materials in order to assist them in achieving or maintaining their TRS certification.
