Brownwood News – The Brownwood City Council met Tuesday morning, May 12, and held a lengthy discussion on when to reopen city facilities. They talked about playground equipment, ball parks, pool and splash pads, restrooms and city-owned buildings such as the Coliseum.
After much discussion, the targeted opening dates for various venues are:
Restrooms at City Parks – Open this Friday, May 15, with thorough cleaning beforehand and daily going forward
Playground Equipment and Splash Pads – Scheduled to open on Friday, May 22. The city will disinfect the equipment prior to opening
Local sports leagues may begin practice starting June 1
City Swimming Pool – The targeted opening date is June 12. This date is subject to the new pool liner being installed and lifeguards being ready
Baseball and Softball Fields at the Bert Massey Complex – The targeted opening date is June 15 when ONLY LOCAL League play can begin. Teams from outside the community are not yet allowed to come to Brownwood for tournament play once the facility opens June 15.
City meeting facilities may also open June 15.
These dates are subject to change and more information will be forthcoming from the city.
