DallasHustonProclamation2015

Brownwood City Councilman Jerry DeHay presented Dallas Huston with a proclamation marking Tuesday, November 10, 2015 as Dallas Huston Day in the city of Brownwood for his many contributions and service to this community and as he is honored this day as the Boy Scouts of America’s Distinguished Citizen of the Year.

Huston attended Brownwood schools growing up, graduating from Brownwood High School. He was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout, achieving the rank of second class and a few merit badges.

In high school, Huston began his radio career at KBWD taking requests on air and doing other odd jobs. One night while the station was short staffed, he was introduced as Dallas Huston and read election results on air.  Huston moved up to live sports action announcing little league games and Golden Glove matches.

In 1963, he was given the opportunity to become the radio voice of the Howard Payne sports and later as the voice of the Brownwood Lions.

Huston has since earned many recognitions for his radio broadcasting achievements, including being inducted into the Howard Payne Sports Hall of Fame in 1998 and honored as their only 50 year letterman in 2013.  Another great honor was given as the Walk of Champions at Gordon Wood Stadium was named after him.

Huston and his wife Linda have four children, 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and is richly blessed, states the proclamation.

His dedication to his family, this community and to the Lord is a great inspiration to all who know him, the proclamation further states.
