The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce fired up the grill early this morning to serve breakfast to about 50 new teachers coming into the Brownwood ISD this year. The Chamber’s Ambassadors arrived at about 6am to prepare plenty of pancakes and sausage for the new teachers to welcome them to the district.
The Chamber also presented each new teacher with a large goodie bag full of free items, discounts, and promotional items from area businesses. There was a huge response from businesses wanting to participate in the new teacher goodie bags. Sharon Hannah, Director of Member Services for the Chamber said,”When we put a call out, we had no idea it was going to be so successful. This is the first year we have done this.” Businesses also donated several nice items and gift certificates for door prizes that the Chamber gave out to the new teachers as well.
BISD Superintendent Reece Blinco said,”We can’t have a compete education system without the Chamber,” referring to the help that the Chamber gives the community and the school district. Blinco also addressed the new teachers to discuss the goals of the district and to stress the importance to remember that they are all there for the benefit of the students.
