chamberlogoThe Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce board of directors announced today that Laura Terhune, Chief Executive Officer of the organization, has tendered her resignation.

Terhune is leaving the Brownwood Chamber to become the President/CEO of the DeSoto Chamber of Commerce beginning on Monday, February 24.  Her last day at the Brownwood Chamber will be February 21.

“As I reflect on the last seven and a half years, I count myself extremely blessed to have worked with a team of the most dedicated volunteers and professional staff to be found anywhere,” Terhune said. “In that time, with their unwavering support and assistance, we have implemented many new programs and events that will have a long-lasting impact on the Chamber and the Brownwood area.”

Terhune has been CEO of the Brownwood Chamber since 2006 and has implemented many of these new programs, events and marketing opportunities which have resulted in an increase in member involvement.  She has also been the leader in strengthening partnerships with the City of Brownwood, Brownwood Economic Development Corporation, Brownwood Industrial Foundation and many other organizations in the area.

“I’m proud to have played a part in these accomplishments,” Terhune said. “It is my hope that these programs will continue to grow and evolve to meet the needs of the Chamber’s members and the entire Brownwood/Brown County area.”

The Chamber’s board chairman appointed a committee to develop a plan of action after Terhune’s resignation.
