Students from the Brownwood High School Band competed at the Region 7 UIL Concert & Sight-Reading Contest at Llano High School on Tuesday, March 25th. The students received a first division rating from each of the judges. This, combined with the band’s first division rating at the UIL marching competition earlier in the year, earned them the UIL Sweepstakes Award.
Comments from the contest judges included the following:
George Strickland from the UIL state music office stated, “AWESOME!!!!! I really enjoyed hearing you……Congrats!!” Don Thoede from Clifton also applauded the performance saying, “A very musical performance! Way to go band,” and Gary Potter commented, “Very enjoyable, Thanks for performing today. I look forward to hearing you again.”“Congratulations to the High School Band for an outstanding job,” said BHS Band Director, David Lambert.
The Brownwood Mighty Maroon Lion band will perform their spring concert on April 29th at the High School Auditorium.
