Brownwood High School Head Band Director Richard Graham announced that he has submitted his resignation on Wednesday along with his wife, Assistant Band Director Deborah Graham.
The Grahams announced today that they will be moving to the Houston area where Mr. Graham has accepted a position as Head Band Director with Stratford High School in Houston.
Graham issued a statement on Wednesday through Facebook expressing his feelings about leaving BISD.
“It is with many mixed emotions that I leave Brownwood. This is a wonderful community with great band kids and parents. Debbie and I will miss all of you very much,” Graham said in the statement.
Mr. Graham also announced that Director of Brownwood Middle School band Jayme Smith has also resigned from the district. No word yet on Ms. Smith’s plans.
Richard Graham has been the head band director for BHS since 2005 and has been teaching band for 30 years. He is a graduate of Angelo State University with a Master of Music Education degree. He also has a Bachelor of Music Education Degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. He has previously been head band director at Lake View High School and Edison Junior High School in San Angelo.
