The Brownwood Art Association will hold a special reception on Thursday, June 2nd from 5-8 p.m. with Helen Alexander in the Art Center at 215 Fisk Avenue in downtown Brownwood. This reception is free and open to the public.

Helen Alexander lives in Salado, Texas and is an active member of the Salado Village Artists. She came to this artistic community in 1999 and began her journey in art. Having retired from a counseling career, Alexander recognizes the importance of artistic creativity to stimulate and maintain a healthy life balance.

Alexander has had the opportunity to learn from a wide variety of artists, including Phillip Wade from Laguna Gloria in Austin, Ed Furuike of Honolulu, Hawaii, Garnet Buster, Loretta Westerfield, Joan Hoffman, Virginia Vaughan, Guy Morrow, and many others. Each artist has enriched her ability to create and to guide others.

Alexander loves to travel and use her photographs as inspiration for paintings. Helen displays her love of color in her paintings. She has a passion for encouraging others to find their creative selves; Alexander is an instructor at That Art Place in Belton and also instructs children and adults in her studio.
