IMG_6389The Brownwood Area Community Garden will screen the award-winning documentary film “Fresh” at a ‘Dinner and A Movie” fund-raising gala Saturday, Oct. 2, at the Turtle Restaurant in downtown Brownwood.

The evening’s events take place outside on the Event Patio behind the Turtle Restaurant and include the film, a gourmet boxed dinner, and a silent auction. The screening is limited to 50 people and tickets are $40 per person.

“Fresh” features “new thinking about what we’re eating” and highlights the farmers, thinkers and business people across America who are re-inventing our food system by forging healthier, sustainable alternatives. With the overlying message of “buy fresh, buy local,” the film by Ana Sofia Joanes offers a practical vision of our food and our planet’s future.

The film was an official selection at the 2009 Environmental Film Festival, Sustainable Living Film Festival, Newport Beach Film Festival, and Maine International Film Festival.
