Leah Lackey (left), kitchen coordinator for the Salvation Army Loaves and Fishes program, accepts the first harvest of fresh produce Tuesday from Brownwood Area Community (BAC) Garden director Stephanie Price. The BAC Garden’s first offerings include zucchini, green beans, radishes and mustard greens.
The Garden is located at 1514 Dublin Street, and is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide fresh produce to area food pantries.
As more and more crops reach maturity, the Garden is recruiting volunteers to help with harvest and Garden operations. For additional information, please call 784-8453 or 641-9029.
