BrowniesMay2015

Brownie Troop #4044 visited Brownwood City Council recently, urging citizens to recycle plastic, especially plastic bags.   In a video presentation, troop members gave statistics about the lack of plastic grocery bag recycling and how their generation needs adults and children alike to recycle.

Troop members passed out reusable bags to encourage citizens not to use plastic bags, instead, to use bags such as the ones pictured above to help as the bag states, “save the world for me.”  Each bag had a painted handprint of Troop #4044 member hands.

Brownie troops are girl scouts from 2nd to 3rd graders.  Brownies were first organized in 1914.

Pictured above is Brownwood Mayor Stephen Haynes and Brownie Troop #4044 during their recent presentation at the May 12 city council meeting.
