Brown County Youth Fair Day 1: Sheep, Goats & Breeding Rabbit Results

The 59th Annual Brown County Youth Fair got off to a great start Wednesday with goats, sheep and rabbit shows. Students from across Brown County gathered to show off the products of their hard work for the past months.

Judges for the day were Russell Kott of Junction, TX for the sheep and goat shows and ARBA Judge, Tony Bell of Alvarado, TX.

2011 Brown County Youth Fair Queen candidates assisted judges in the arena with ribbons and belt buckles. Candidates this year are Chastity King of Zephyr, Jordan Cadenhead of Early, Rebecca McFarland of May, and Keelee Allen of Bangs.

When asked about the success of the first day, Jake Lobstein, president for the Brown County Youth Fair steering committee, commented that there are lots of good people helping make his job a little easier. The 30 member Brown County Youth Fair Board helps make the fair happen. Lobstein pointed out that Anna Hernandez, secretary had to learn a new software for all the entries and results data entry and that John Rockafellow stepped up to help do the show announcing this year when there was a vacancy that had not been filled. Many other board members are helping in the arena and with other important tasks.
