The Brown County United Way is kicking off its 2011-2012 Campaign at their annual luncheon on September 20, 2011. Many of the charities that the United Way fund have reported an increase in the need for their services, while at the same time contribution to the United Way have decreased, which in turn decreases the funding for these United Way organizations.
So, as it starts its 2012 campaign amid a difficult economic climate, the Brown County United Way is asking the community to dig deeper to help those in need. For its 2012 campaign, the agency will not set a dollar goal. Instead, it will simply try to surpass the 2011 figure. “Rather than set a number, we will try to raise the most that we possibly can,” said Ruth Willey, the 2012 Campaign Co-Director.
The Brown County United Way supports the following organizations in our community: American Red Cross, The Ark Domestic shelter, Boys & Girls Club, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Texas Trails council Boy Scouts of America, Girl Scouts of Central Texas, Latch Key, Mid-Texas Council on Alcohol & Drug Abuse, Family Services Center, CASA, Cancer Services Network, Small World Child Development Center, Salvation Army Loaves & Fishes, 4-H and Brown County Association for Retarded Citizens.
