Brown County Students Win Scholarships Through Texas Scholars Program

The Annual Texas Scholars Recognition Luncheon was held on Thursday, April 15^th at the Brownwood Coliseum where 20 Brown County high school seniors were each awarded a $500 scholarship to help continue their education.

Since 1995, the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce has coordinated the Texas Scholars Program for all of the schools in Brown County. Students from all seven public school districts in the county were eligible, if they completed the requirements of the Texas Scholars Program which each student signed up for in the 8^th grade. Eligible student names were sorted by their school district, and the scholarship winners were randomly drawn.

The scholarships were provided by generous donations from local businesses and individuals including Brownwood Regional Medical Center, Citizens National Bank, TexasBank, Oncor, Weakley-Watson, Barry & Emily Miller – Zephyr TX, 3M Company, DanHil Containers, Demand Staff, Inc., Texas State Technical College, and Lamar Advertising Company.
