National Weather Service Warning Coordination Meteorologist Hector Guerrero will host the Brown County SkyWarn Weather Spotter School this Saturday morning, March 5th, at 9am in Brownwood. The weather school will be held in room 136 at Newman Hall, behind the Douglas McArthur Academy of Freedom on the Howard Payne University campus, which is located at the corner of Coggin and Austin Avenues in Brownwood.
The weather school is free of charge, and anyone interested in attending is urged to do so. Those who serve as Certified Weather Spotters are required to attend. Those planning to become weather spotters can also get information how to become a licensed Amateur “Ham” Radio operator.
The National Weather Service uses licensed Amateur Radio Operators as their field spotters across the nation. For more information, contact Billy Sharp at 325-200-2434 or Bill Fraser at 325-646-7896. The event is hosted by the Brownwood Amateur Radio Club.
