Three 18-year-old suspects were arrested Wednesday night by Brown County Sheriff deputies after a traffic stop led to finding marijuana.
The teen’s vehicle was stopped when Deputy Wes Copeland saw them make a u-turn on County Road 259. Copeland’s report indicates that the driver and passengers appeared very nervous when the deputy approached them.
After investigating and questioning them, all three occupants admitted to having been smoking marijuana according to the report. A bag of marijuana and a pipe were recovered from the vehicle.
The occupants identified as Tyson Scott Cason, Derrick Christian Gastinger, and Joshua Adam Hoffman were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana.
In an unrelated case on Wednesday morning, Sheriff Deputy Jed Polnick investigated a parked vehicle on Hwy 279 near County Road 152 occupied by two male subjects. The deputy’s report indicates that the men acted suspicious and possibly intoxicated.
During the investigation and search, deputies found several pills on one of the men inside a mint container that was later identified as Morphine according to the report.
The man identified as 24-year-old Thomas Brandon Shifflett was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance. The other occupant identified as 25-year-old Brian Patrick Sweeten was charged with public intoxication.
