A Rising Star man was arrested early Saturday morning after he was found driving on the wrong side of the road according to Sheriff’s reports.
Dispatch advised Deputy John Fincher that someone spotted a vehicle traveling east towards Brownwood on highway 67/84 driving in the westbound lane near Giles Trade Lot. Fincher intercepted the vehicle as it still drove on the wrong side of the road. The vehicle stopped at the entrance of the law enforcement center where Fincher made contact with the driver identified at 27-year-old Michael Dane Flippin.
Fincher suspected that Flippin was intoxicated by his odor and actions and placed him under arrested for DWI. An inventory of the vehicle revealed a loaded handgun according to the report.
The report also indicates that Flippin refused a blood test prompting the deputy to get a search warrant for a blood specimen signed by Judge Frank Griffin.
Flippin was charged with DWI 2nd due to a previous conviction out of Louisiana. He was also charged with unlawful carrying a weapon due to having a loaded handgun in the vehicle at the time of the DWI offense according to the report.
