Traffic Stop Leads to Possession Arrest

Deputy Jed Polnick arrested 42-year-old Terry Lavon Evers of Brownwood Sunday morning and was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Polnick’s report indicates that he observed and stopped a vehicle with three male occupants that was traveling down Austin Avenue at 57 mph in a posted 40 mph zone.  The deputy noted that the occupants of the vehicle “appeared to be nervous” after the stop.

Upon investigating, Evers, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was found to be in possession of a crack pipe with a small amount of residue which field tested positive for cocaine according to the report.   Evers was arrested and taken to Brown County Jail and the driver was cited and released.

Deer Hunting the Wrong Way

On Thursday, Brown County Deputies Wes Copeland and John Fincher in conjunction with Game Warden Travis Allen responded to a report of someone shooting deer inside the city limits on Austin Avenue.

Contact was made with 28-year-old Travis Andrew Miller at the residence regarding the complaint.  The Sheriff’s report states that Miller went inside the home to retrieve his identification for the officers.  Inside the home they observed marijuana and a multicolored glass pipe with marijuana residue in plain sight.

Miller was arrested for Possession of Marijuana.  He also later admitted to shooting the deer on the property according to the report.  He was taken to Brown County Jail and was released on $2000 bond.

Other Arrests

Rebecca Lynn Luttrell, 36, and Rachael Diane Brown, 34, were both arrested  on Friday afternoon and each charged with criminal trespass of habitation.  The Sheriff’s report indicates that Luttrell and Brown were attempting to gain access to a home to retrieve some personal items against the home owner’s wishes.
