Brown County residents are being warned of a new scam by the Brown County Sheriff’s Office.
According to Sheriff Bobby Grubbs, the BCSO has received numerous calls in regards to an individual attempting to scam the public. An individual is calling the citizens of Brown County, stating his is an employee with the Brown County Sheriff’s Office. The caller then states there is an outstanding warrant for the person’s arrest. This individual is advising the citizen to purchase a green dot card, up to $2,000.00, in order to pay off the warrant. The caller is stating when he receives the payment the warrant will then be cleared.All citizens of Brown County are advised not to converse with the individual, hang up, and immediately call law enforcement with any available information.
