Brown County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Bobby Duvall and Captain Vance Hill received approval for the purchase of a new vehicle for use by the environmental officer at Monday’s meeting of the Brown County Commissioner’s Court.
The cost of the vehicle, according to Hill, will be funded from the surplus money available in the BCSO operations fund. He explained that a four-door 2016 Chevrolet 4 x 4 pickup will be purchased from Caldwell County Chevrolet through a State of Texas Buy Board contract for $29,359. Approval for up to $5,000 of equipment to outfit the vehicle was also granted.
Commissioners also approved the purchase of a new conference table and 10 chairs to replace the previous table and chairs that were moved to the new fire station when the Emergency Operations Center was relocated. Hill explained that the table and chairs would cost $2801 total and would make the room more useful to BCSO.
Deputies providing courthouse security will soon have new ballistic vests for which commissioners also granted approval. Three vests at $530 each will be purchased through GT Distributing. Grant monies received will pay for half of this cost and Hill explained that BCSO has a $1000 line item from the budget which will cover the remaining cost.
