Brownwood News – The following calls for service were responded to by the Brown County Sheriff’s Department in recent days.

On Thursday, September 5, at 12:49 hours, a Deputy was dispatched to a community relation call.  This was in regards to an individual buying a vehicle, which could be handled by public service.  A man said an individual was attempting to sell him a vehicle and wanted to know if the vehicle was stolen.  After further investigation, the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Odessa.  A report was taken.

On Thursday, September 5, a Lieutenant spoke with a woman in regards to being assaulted by a man and woman on CR 569.  A report was taken.

On September 6, at about 08:22 hours, a Deputy impounded an abandoned vehicle, which was parked on the side of the road at about the intersection of Highway 377 South and CR 214.

On September 6, at about 11:51 hours, a Deputy arrived on County Road 294 in Blanket in regards to a domestic disturbance.  The Deputy spoke with a complainant who said her son and daughter-in-law had been in a physical altercation and the woman had been “knocked out” by the man.

 

On Friday, September 6, at approximately 11:49 am, a Deputy was dispatched to the 4900 block of County Road 180.  This was in reference to an accident where the suspect vehicle had fled the scene and not notified the proper agencies.

On September 4, at 08:38 hours, a Deputy was dispatched to a found livestock call on County Road 198 in Bangs, a call which could be handled by public service.  The Deputy spoke with a woman who said a male brown/white baby goat walked to her residence and didn’t know who the goat belonged to.  The woman pinned the goat.  The Deputy was unable to locate an owner after a few days.  The goat was Estrayed and a report taken.

On September 6, at about 15:41 hours, a Deputy arrived in the 5500 block of County Road 267 in Brownwood.  This was in regards to animal at large.  The Deputy spoke to a man who stated someone had dumped 5 puppies under the bridge down from his residence.  The puppies were gathered and taken to the Corinne T. Smith Animal Shelter.

On September 6, a Deputy responded to a report of a possible assault on FM 1689 at May, Texas.  Deputies arrived and discovered no assault occurred.  It was an ongoing civil matter between the two parties.  An information report was made.

On September 7, a Deputy was notified of a man reporting stolen tires from his property on East Highway 377.  The incident occurred on August 22.  A report has been taken.

On September 7, at approximately 4:39 am, two deputies were dispatched to North Highway 279.  This was in regards to people arguing on the side of the road.  After a brief description of the vehicle, and direction of travel, the vehicle was located in the 24000 block of Highway 279.  After speaking with both parties, it was observed the male victim had sustained a knife wound injury to his hand.  After further investigation, the suspect, a woman, was ultimately arrested for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

On September 7, a Sgt. was dispatched to a report of a Reckless Driver.  The Sgt. located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop in the 1000 block of West Commerce.  After further investigation, the male driver was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated 2nd.  A report was made.

On September 8, at approximately 00:08, a Deputy was dispatched to CR 611 in Brownwood.  This was in regards to a burglary of a habitation.  The complainant stated money, jewelry and other items were missing from her residence.  A report was made.

On September 8, a Sgt. was dispatched to a report of a Reckless Driver on West US 67 near Bangs.  While in route, a Bangs Police Sgt. stopped the vehicle in the 1400 block of West US 67, after observing the vehicle failing to maintain a single lane and almost striking another vehicle.  Upon arrival, the Sgt. made contact with the driver of the vehicle.  After further investigation, the woman was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated. A report was made.

On Sunday, September 8, at approximately 19:00, Brownwood Police Units were dispatched to an address on Cottage in Brownwood.  This was in reference to an assault report and investigation.

On Friday, September 6, at approximately 17:30, a Deputy was dispatched to FM 586 in Bangs.  This was in reference to 3 dogs attacking another dog.

On Monday, September 9, a Deputy took a phone call in regards to a follow up for hindering a secured creditor.  A man stated a female suspect was buying a car from him but has failed to pay the monthly payments that are passed due.  Contact was made with the suspect who advised she will either get the money or the vehicle to the car lot.  A report was made.

On Monday, September 9, at approximately 19:24, units were dispatched to the Highway 377 south in reference to an unwanted person.  The person was issued a trespass warning for the property near the Kohler area.
