Brownwood News – The Brown County Sheriff’s Department has answered the following calls in recent days.
On October 30, 2019, at 08:20 hours, Deputy Bastardo was dispatched on a theft call that could be handled by public service. Deputy Bastardo spoke with a woman who said items had been taken from her rent property on Lakeshore Drive by two named people. A report was taken.
On October 30, 2019, at approximately 22:46 hours, Cpl. Hopson responded to Belle Plain. This was for a warrant service. Cpl. Hopson contacted a female who was subsequently arrested for her outstanding warrant and additionally charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 1 <1 gram and Possession of Dangerous Drug <28 grams. She was transported to the Brown County Jail and released to jail staff. The controlled substance was trace amounts weighing less than 1 gram and the Dangerous Drug was Clonazepam weighing .2 grams.
On October 25, 2019, Lt. Bastardo met with a man at FM 45, Havins Unit. This was in regards to a harassment call from May 14, 2019. The man now wants to file charges on a woman. A report was taken.
On Monday, October 28, at approximately 11:19 am, Deputy Burke spoke to the complainant by phone. This was in reference to a theft report and investigation.
On Monday, October 28, at about 17:33 hours, Deputy Simpson responded to County Road 292. This was in regards to illegal dumping. Upon arriving on scene, Deputy Simpson located a prescription belonging to a man. Deputy Simpson attempted to make contact with the man, without success. The suspect later contacted the Deputy and advised he would be going to pick up the trash.
On Wednesday, October 30, at about 04:00 hours, Deputy Simpson responded to the Law Enforcement Center, 1050 W. Commerce. This was for narcotics being found in the wallet of the suspect inside the jail. Upon arriving on scene, Deputy Simpson located a yellow baggie with white crystal substance on the booking counter. A field test was done on the crystal substance. The field test was positive for methamphetamine.
On October 25, at 09:36 hours, Deputy J. Bastardo was dispatched to County Road 297, a mile from FM 1467 in Zephyr. This was in regards to illegal dumping. Upon arrival, the Deputy spoke with a Road Crew Foreman who said, while working in the area, he located several trash bags in the ditch. A report was taken.
On October 25, at approximately 18:57, Deputy Rodriguez was dispatched to North U.S. 183 in Brownwood. This was in regards to a theft of a motor vehicle. A report was made.
On October 25, at approximately 21:58, Deputy Rodriguez was dispatched to Main Street in Blanket. This was in regards to a male subject lying in the grass. After further investigation, the male was placed under arrest for Public Intoxication, MC.
On October 26, at approximately 23:07, Cpl. Hopson responded to Hog Creek Road for a disturbance. He contacted a man who was subsequently arrested for Assault Causes Bodily Injury-Family Violence. He was transported to the Brown County Jail where he was released to jail staff.
On October 26, Deputy Mathis responded to County Road 165 in Bangs. This was a report of a disturbance. A woman reported her daughter, with Alzheimer’s, assaulted her. A woman was taken to BRMC for medical evaluation and a report was made.
On October 26, at approximately 1:00 pm, the Brown County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a vehicle failing to maintain lane. Deputy Bastardo and Deputy Smoot arrived in the area. Deputy Bastardo conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. During the investigation, it was determined the driver was, in fact, operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. The driver was placed under arrest, consented to blood draw administered at Brownwood E.R. and transported to jail.
On October 26, at approximately 15:01 hours, Cpl. Hopson took a theft of a motor vehicle report. The victim wished to file charges on the known suspect. The incident is still being investigated.
On October 27, Deputy Mathis observed a black Jeep SUV, traveling north bound on Highway 279, fail to maintain a single lane of travel. The female driver was placed in custody for Driving While Intoxicated after a field sobriety test was performed.
On October 27, at approximately 1:54 am, Deputy Rodriguez and Cpl. Hopson were dispatched to a domestic disturbance located at North U.S. Highway 183 in Brownwood. After further investigation, the male party was arrested for Interference with Emergency Request for Assistance, MA and Resisting Arrest, MA.
On October 27, at 14:17 hours, Deputy Bastardo was advised of a walk-in. This was in regards to found property. Dispatcher advised an individual had left a set of keys at the Law Enforcement Center. A report was taken.
On October 27, at approximately 18:47 hours, Cpl. Hopson responded to FM 3021 for a hit and run. The incident is still being investigated.
On October 27, at approximately 18:39, Deputy Rodriguez and Deputy Mathis were dispatched to Brook Valley Drive in May. This was in regards to a domestic disturbance. After further investigation, a report was made for terroristic threat.
On October 27, Deputy Mathis responded to the intersection of Brin Street and Avenue C. This was for a report of theft. A woman called to report a female had taken her wallet. The suspect was identified. Information was gathered and a report was made.
