Brownwood News – The following calls for service were responded to in recent days by the Brown County Sheriff’s Department.

On July 26, at approximately 1:30 pm, two deputies served an arrest warrant on a man who was placed in handcuffs and placed into a deputy vehicle.  He was transported to Brown County Jail but, just prior to going through the gate to the jail area, the man advised he had a marijuana pipe in his pocket.  At this time, the Deputy stopped the vehicle.  The other Deputy joined and they went to the back passenger door.  Upon opening the door, the man removed a silver colored pipe, which contained writing on it (Oil Stix).  The pipe has a glass top, which contained approximately ¼ inch of a brown liquid substance.  The man stated it was marijuana oil.  One of the deputies took custody of the pipe, which will be placed into an evidence locker and later submitted to the Texas Department of Public Safety laboratory for analysis.  The charge will be filed once deputies receive the lab report.

On Friday, August 2, a Lieutenant responded to CR 338.  This was in regards to a hit and run.  Contact was made with a man who advised someone had hit a bridge that is believed to be owned by Brown County Precinct #3.  In the process, a fence was also hit causing damage.  There are no suspects to list and two reports were generated, due to having two victims.

On August 2, at about 10:20 hours, a Deputy arrived at the Sportsman Center, located at Belle Plain in Brownwood.  This was in regards to a structure fire near there.

On Friday, August 2, at approximately 16:50 a Deputy talked to a complainant by phone.  This was in reference to the theft of some money.

On August 2, a Deputy responded to Beaver Street for a report of unauthorized use of motor vehicle.  The deputy had prior knowledge of this call from assisting Brownwood PD with it before being assigned it.  Information was gathered and the vehicle was entered into NCIC and a report was made.

On August 3, at about 10:30 hours, a Deputy arrived at North U.S. Highway 183 in Brownwood.  This was in regards to criminal mischief.  The Deputy spoke to a man who stated his ex-girlfriend had damaged his wall and taken his property without his consent.

On August 4, at approximately 22:29, a Deputy and Corporal were in route to a domestic disturbance which occurred at the corner of Avenue D in Blanket.  A report was made.
