IMG_5499Thursday night marked the opening day of the 47th Annual Brown County Rodeo that will be running nightly through June 12th (starting at 8pm) at the Earl Q. Wilson Arena/ Brown County Youth Fair Grounds on Hwy 377 S.

Terry Walls Stock Contracting has provided stock for the rodeo this year.   Entertainer Gizmo McCrackin’ kept everyone laughing with silly jokes, crazy antics and even a special sparking and smoking ambulance routine.  Terry Starnes has the role of announcer.  There were also special appearances of Miss Rodeo Texas, Devin Felger of New Braunfels and Miss Brown County Youth Fair, Danielle Denbow of Bangs.

It all started with the traditional Grand Entry with lots of local riders and beautiful horses.  Events following were Bareback Riding, Saddle Bronc Riding, Tie Down Roping, Ladies’ Breakaway Roping, Calf Scramble, Steer Wrestling, Barrel Racing, Team Roping and Bull Riding.

Advance tickets are available at KOXE Radio, Scotts Western Wear, Citizens National Bank main branch and Wal-Mart Branch, Wendlee Broadcasting, and the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce.  Advance tickets cost $8 for adults and $3 for kids.  Tickets at the gate will be $10 for adults and $3 for kids.

The fun continues with the Rodeo Parade on Saturday, June 12th at 10am, which will be traveling through Downtown Brownwood.  See route map below.

The Brown County Rodeo Dance will top off the weekend events Saturday, June 12th at the Brownwood Coliseum.  The Brown County Fair Association welcomes Brandon Rhyder for a night of great music and boot scoot’n fun.  The doors open at 8pm and the cost is $15 for advance tickets available from KOXE, Scott’s Western Wear, TexasBank, and Citizens National Bank.
